Nature of Change in a fieldThe nature of change is that sometimes it happens slowly, beneath the surface, outside our awareness. Only this week I was out walking and found myself in the field of ripening grain. I took one of my mindful minutes, a natural pause in my day for reflection, just a single minute but so powerful. I try to take this in nature where possible because of the insights that can be received from observing nature.

I was inspired to do a Facebook Live onto my Facebook page about the nature of change.

The Nature of Change is Slow

Only a few months before the field had looked completely empty, yet today as I sat in silent reflection it was full of wild abundance and everything was coming to fruition. It was all happening in its own natural time. During those early month’s we could not see the changes happening, they were taking place below the surface. Outside of our awareness, the little seeds of potential were unfolding. Slowly, unhurried the changes were happening whether we can see it or not. It is about trusting that is happening, the nature of change is that is happening slowly.

Everything in an instant

We are becoming increasing customised to expect change to happen in an instant. In our modern life, we are constantly exposed to press a button and things appear – coffee in seconds, order something online and it can be with you the very same day!! You can get to the other side of the world in 24 hours when once it took 8 weeks.

Facebook is full of; change your life instantly or create your six-figure business overnight messages.  We are forgetting the art of waiting and that change happening leaf by leaf, one small step at a time.

When we reconnect the natural wisdom we reconnect with the power of the slow and steady approach and how it can yield consistently abundant results. Just watch a plant fed “quick grow”feed, watch it grow quickly but if it outstrips foundational nutrients to support that growth – it may grow taller than the others but its stem is weak and the slightest wind can cause it to break and fall down.

Increasingly the constant push in our society to be bigger quicker is starting to take a toll on our own human nature As we step further out of the natural cycle and push more and more into the quick, instant growth there is an increase in people suffering from anxiety, depression, burnout. (For Anxiety check out my Simple Anxiety Calming Meditation)

I encounter the expectation of new to the spiritual field that meditation will be instant and that their enlightenment will arrive equally quickly. I watch facebook ads daily promoting get your six-figure business overnight but when new entrepreneurs try the promoted process for themselves they get the growth yes but it is just not sustainable and they burn out the path to burnout.

Nature shows that there is not a quick, miracle shortcut. You can not grow a flower without a root (I am sure a botanist will probably going to correct me on this but in the most case I know all flowers do need a root and some form of a stem). This goes in life too – the path of success is slow and steady growth whether it be in personal, business or spiritual growth.

So what is my take away from this mindful minute? – nurturing your earthly foundations, the roots and build from their one step at a time.  Stop seeking the quick fix, instant solution and take the natural path, forward one step/leaf at a time.
