Beltane Blessings

Beltane is the festival that celebrates the Fertility of the Earth and honours life. The Earth energies are at their strongest and most active during this time.

Beltane is one of the four cross-quarters festivals (also known as the Fire Festivals) on the Earth Cycle and marks the energetic peak of the spring season and the beginning of Summer.

With Beltane were are marking the start of the season of abundant fertility, on all levels, maturing life and deep found love. A time of rituals to honour the union between god and goddess by circling the Maypole (the joining of the male and female energies) and the jumping the Beltane fire to promote fertility to the land.

The earth is at it's most active with life force and is cloaked in green lushness. The heart chakra and love vibrations are everywhere making this the time friends and lovers and honouring unions of all kinds.

Just like at Samhain the veil between worlds is thinner and so making this a great time to commune with the elementals/nature spirits.

This is a time for reverence in all of life so make time to connect with nature.

As this is a very fertile energy time this is a great time for setting intentions, for bringing hopes, dreams and aspirations to life.

Growing your Intentions (Wishes) with a Beltane Wish Box

  • Write your the intention or the wish you want to grow on a piece of paper.
  • Place it in a small cardboard box. cover the paper with earth then place some summer flowering seeds on the earth before covering with some more earth.
  • Cut some good sized holes in the lid of the Beltane Wish box and place it on top.
  • Then make a ritual of burying the box in the fertile earth (by moonlight can be especially beautiful and powerful) and sprinkle it with water as you visualise the flowers growing along with your wish.

(A little soulful reminder remember to water your wishes regularly)

Beltane Meditation

  • Close your eyes and connect with your breath
  • Visualise yourself barefoot in the wild natural forest
  • You are in a glade with and at the centre of the forest
  • There is a burning fire at the heart of the circle
  • And you can hear drums and chanting but can not locate the source
  • It feels like a veil being lifted, your senses expand and you find that you are not alone but surrounded by beautiful natural spirits of the forest and they are the source of the music.
  • They are dancing wildly and freely, with joy and abandonment
  • You are moved to join the dance with them
  • Celebrating the Earth as your bare feet beat the same beat as Mother Earth's heartbeat
  • You join the faerie, nature spirits, dyads, elementals in the fire jump - clearly leaping over the flames
  • You dance through the night
  • And as the fire turns to embers you witness the magic of dawn
  • The nature spirits quietly merge into the forest and you are alone once more with your breath
  • Give thanks to Mother Nature for being part of the circle of life
  • And finally feel your connection with the earth as you bring yourself back to your physical space.

Other ways you can celebrate Beltane

  • Dance around a tree instead of a maypole,
  • Hang ribbons on branches as you thank nature for all gifts received
  • Leap a fire with friends and lovers - a candle out in the garden with suffice
  • As you leap the fire you can make a pledge to that someone special in your life and re-affirm your union in a way that feels right for you both (wink wink)
  • Decorate yourself and your home with flowers and greenery

And don't forget to be on the lookout for faeries and nature spirits
